Five Quahaug Shells is a 10.5 x 10.5 oil on canvas painting with a pale lavender background, framed by the artist with weathered wood strips. Native Americans hand fashioned tubular purple beads called wampum out of the thick shell, used for gifts, storytelling and as a means of exchange or currency with the Colonists.
